Manufacturing - Why Permanent Mould Cast Aluminum?
Unlike older, cast iron styles, Simcoe's cast aluminum furniture is light enough to rearrange easily; and unlike hollow tube, or plastic patio furniture, is robust enough not to blow over. Pure aluminum, being a soft metal, requires that other metals and minerals be added to form the strong alloy we require before we even begin manufacturing.
Hand pouring molten aluminum into permanent steel moulds, and allowing it to cool naturally, gives a lower gas porosity (fewer air bubbles) and a denser structure, making for stronger, more durable patio furniture. Permanent mould casting , using the highest quality alloys, results in cast aluminum furniture with better resistance to fatigue, corrosion and wear.
